2024, Bátur, setning, þriðjudagur, Skaftfell.
I collected scrap metal and junk from a pile in Seyðisfjörður, secured, and arranged it together into a train, and pulled it into our exhibition space at Skaftfell. I recorded the performance and created a video piece from it. The train was then set up as an installation in front of the video-monitor.
Þetta er þungur sleði. Lest. // This is a heavy sled. Train. is a video piece that documents a performative act of hauling a self-made train composed of collected scrap and found metal into an exhibition space. The video unfolds through repetition. The same actions return: pulling, stopping, securing, losing, turning back. Drawing attention to the physical rhythm of labor and the materiality of improvised structures.
